Village of Williams Bay

The bay, which was named by or for Captain Israel Williams, cuts almost rectangularly into section 6 of Linn. The village of Williams Bay lies in Linn township.

The settlement began about 1879 by about 1893 was noted beginning to attract attentions as a place of summer homes.

The Chicago and Nortwestern Railway arrived and departed on June 1, 1888.

Mrs. Marie R. Barnhart Williams was the postmistress in 1892.

James L. Tubbs platted the village in 1897 for Mrs. Lucretia S. Williams, widow of Royal Joy Williams.
