Village of Fontana

Other early settlers include: Cumming, Montague, Douglass, Warren, Joy, Chambers, and Wright.

Matthias Mohr named the area Fontana in 1838.

The park was set apart in about 1871.

Carlos S. Douglass built a grist-mill in 1857. He also platted the village in 1895, but village life had been there much earlier.

In 1891, the women of the Congregational Aid Society built a union church.
